50 Shades of Queen
Realizing that women aren’t empowered enough bothers me. You want to know why? Well here it is! Women are looked to be weak, timid, and can’t hold their own because of the notion that men have this macho thing about them that makes them appearphysically strong. Well I come to change that idea because women don’t get enough credit.
As women we underestimate our beauties because societal norms and this figment of imagination of what perfect is. Secretly every woman is competing with some image of what beauty is instead of looking at the mirror and experiencing beauty in themselves.
Growing up, I’ve always been told that I should lose weight and be this image of something or someone that I’m clearly not. I used to let it bother me but as I got older, seeing my curves, watching myself in the mirror just made me excited to just be me. The song Video by India.Arie is how I view myself and those I surround myself with. You know why? Because I know my Creator didn’t make any mistakes on me.
Women we lose ourselves too much with the idea of what’s perfect and never really ask the question of “Who are you?” and “what makes you unique?” Too often we use our names as the answer to who we are and our occupation or the things we do to define what make us unique when they answer neither of the two questions. So, I took on a little experiment and asked these two questions via Facebook and simply texting every female in my phone. I got a few responses such as “I’m still trying to figure it out” or let me think about it but never got back to me. That was about a month ago but the two responses that I did receive, I would like to share them with you because not only did they answer the questions, they inspired me deeply.
“So I am a misunderstood black woman from the outside and a strong loving gentle lioness on the inside lol I know “a gentle lioness” meaning I don’t kill for sport I kill to feed the rest of the pack…. I am a person who loves to love and to be loved I am a person who sees every single itty bitty ounce of good in everybody or everything…. What makes me unique is my camouflage resting bitch face lol I love when people see me and think I’m this angry or mean person and the unique thing about me is I love watching the expression on people’s face when they find out who I am…. What also makes me unique is that I am a big tall woman with a deep voice and in a room full of average women I still get chosen.”

Who are you? What makes you unique?
Two very good questions. Well, I am Lauren Symone Mitchell. A proud Black-American woman who is living to be the woman God wants me to be. I’m shy, but very confident in who I am and with the way I look. I love myself. I loved who I was and I love who I’m becoming.
What I believe makes me unique is the fact that I can easily conform. I can adjust to any situation, any lifestyle, any attitude to the one needed and I can do it with no problem. I’ve proved it to myself and others enough to know or believe that it’s not something everyone can do.

I wanted to share these with you because when you see yourself as a Queen, all other things are put in place and you don’t have to wait to figure it out because iin the mist of figuring it out you’ve already been crowned.
So I want you all to take this with you, no matter where you are and what you do in life, you’ve come from Royalty and an aristocratic dynasty. One thing you ought to remember is that there is beauty in you no matter the standard of beauty. Adjust your crown and be the best part of you that you can be.
