Hey Ed: Just to let you know that the official definition of an immigrant is someone leaves their homeland with the intent to permanently reside in a new land. Doesn’t really matter about going through any type of official or legal process; hence the term illegal immigrant is a wholly founded and correct term to use.

On the other hand, an alien can simply be a foreigner. They can aslo be someone who is living in a country without having accquired said country’s citizenship but are here leaglly making tyhem a legal alien. Shouldn’t we all know a little more about the facts and definitions of words before spewing off our opinions. It is very dangeroius to throw ones views and opinions around when gthey dont realkly seem to know what they are actually talking about. Maybe I’m wrong here, but it seems like you might not fully understand how immigartion works and the importance of it.
