For professionals, I think MacBook Pro’s are the way to go. They get scoffed at by those who want to compare stricly hardware stats but what often gets left out of the comparisons is Apple’s proprietary software and engineering. I have a large project that takes my desktop about 55 seconds on average to compile, in a virtual machine, with a “better CPU on paper” than my MBP yet my MBP will do the same compilation in a virtual machine in 43 seconds. That’s quite a dramatic difference and I found when running against my colleagues brand new top-of-the-line Dell computer, also with better specs on paper, my machine still compiles projects noticeably faster and has preserved it’s quick responsiveness in daily tasks where his is already slowing down.
