Lost Boys Unite

The Lost Boys from the California Youth Theater tour of Peter Pan in 1977 directed by Gary Goddard. Anthony Edwards is in the middle, and Scott Durnavich is on the far right.

We saw bright sparks
in the dark
Of the theatre night

Tinged with envy and awe
at ferocious talents blooming
Warming hands and hearts
in front of your collective fire
We roared
to soaring dancing flames
While you burned on and on
to embered ash
And iron forged.

Applause and curtain calls.
The price paid to a false god, pied piper
For a taste of youthful glory and
Perchance tomorrow’s reward:
Innocence lost.
Suffer the children to act
Off stage
The damned god must be fed.
The cost of admission
Years of silent nights and
Some of the light.

Brave ones
Silent nights no more
Lost boys unite.

Dear Bret,
Yes, I woke up in the middle of the night and wrote this. I am so moved by what transpired to you and your dear childhood friends. I was raised and still live in SB. I am trying to come to terms with the reality of it. I’m so sorry. My heart hurts; and I am glad you don’t need to keep such a secret anymore.
Love from SB,
