Most commenters are both right and wrong. A few are flat-out crazy.
There are economic models and there are political models. (Models, not partisan policies and platforms.)
So let’s conflate.
Capitalism (economic) enables self-actualization in the form of personal wealth. Social democracy (political, and not Democratic Socialism, a swing too far, I think) provides checks on greed (and power) in the form of sensible regulation. Sensible regulation was key to America becoming great in the first place.
No model is perfect as implemented as most commenters have said. And implementation is hard, never-ending work.
Keep working at it, without swinging too far in either direction.
