And I think if you believe in people’s right to offend, you must also take responsibility for what happens if you enable and empower that speech. There are, after all, two sides to “I disapprove what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” Many people choose to only parrot the second half, without fully exploring the necessity of the first part.
