Thanks for taking time to respond thoughtfully. I agree that there are many issues in the implementation of CC. It also seems there is a large amount of variation from school to school, teacher to teacher.

Perhaps we can all work together to improve upon it? “Throwing the baby out with the bathwater” mentality has been a prevalent popular opinion, but is this the most effective way to improve math education for future generations?

What are its misgivings?

Miscommunication to parents? Lack of resources for educators and families? Missing topics? Curriculum (which is a separate issue from CC standards)? Grading misunderstandings? Too much emphasis on certain methods?

When we begin to answer these specific questions, we can create a cohesive voice to encourage the enactment of those changes.
