I watched 14 police officers take down a one-legged homeless Black man outside Twitter HQ

What I saw, in the video, was a lady (behind the camera) that is not very mature and does not yet understand very well how parts of the world works, but maybe seems to think she does. The authors comments during the video showed a lack of good strong character and I find it pretty astonishing that she is not embarrassed by her comments and actions during this incident and has chosen to show this video containing her atrocious behavior. A better story here may be behind the camera instead of in front of it. She does have a passion, but much of it is misplaced and she is somehow misguided. She may have great reasons for real grievances but something is wrong in how she understands and expresses herself about real root causes.

A citizen made a call for assistance because a man was acting erratically. It was reported that he was waving “sticks” around in the air, which may have been his crutches but that is not very relevant. He is by default either a danger to himself or to others around him and needed help that citizens around him felt they could not provide — so they called in professionals. A good citizen made the call in order to help a fellow human being that needed help. When the video starts he was obviously resisting arrest which included biting and using his prosthetic legs as potential weapons. The police did what they could to keep the man and themselves from harm, meeting force with force and escalating as needed as they were trained.

The author continually berated the officers telling them what a terrible job they were doing. She tried to express how they did not know how to be police officers, when it was obvious that she is the one that suffers from ignorance. She mentioned some racist things about the officers, as did other bystanders. She was verbally assaulting the officers while they were doing their job to the best of their ability. She was basically not being a good citizen and is not very informed. Yet, I can not wholly blame her. She may have been very emotional at the time and she could be given the benefit of the doubt that this was a reason for her poor thinking and verbalization at the time. Yet her thinking skills at the time were surely poor indeed.

The author has a passion about making society better, but before she can do that efficiently and effectively, if at all, she really needs to work on herself first. Maybe she needs to go on some police ride alongs to better understand the perspective of the police. Perhaps she needs to work on her critical thinking skills and to understand how her biases affect her thinking and judgement. Perhaps she needs to seek out the perspectives of those on the opposite sides of her argument. Perhaps she needs to read more books about how people and people within societies work, and not take as many cues from social media and perspectives that match her own. PEACE
