Bruce Weber: Who’s Dead?
Bruce Weber, currently a New York Times reporter specializing in obituaries, began his career in journalism as a fiction editor at Esquire magazine.
Weber has written for numerous newspaper and magazine publications throughout his work as a reporter.
Overtime, Weber has earned the reputation as an aficionado in the art of crafting final remembrances.
He is the author of the New York Times bestseller As They See ’Em: A Fan’s Travels in the Land of Umpires as well as Life Is A Wheel: Love, Death, Etc., and a Bike Ride Across America.
An avid “tweeter” on Twitter, Weber has an unofficial slogan, which he uses to broadcast current celebrity deaths along with the obituaries that he has written for the deceased: Who’s Dead?
In a recent interview with Weber, he revealed that oftentimes his job is focused on writing obituaries for those who have yet to die; this preparedness promotes fast publication and timeliness in the world of journalism.
Currently, Weber is working on an obituary for the (still living) 84 year-old actor, Christopher Plummer.
Although some would assume Weber’s career to be morbid, he asserts that he has learned to find humor within it; therefore, finding it fulfilling and enjoyable.
