These two, freedom and responsibility, cannot be separated.

When talking about freedom, many people become a little off center and see freedom as the opportunity to make choices without constraints.

This is not the meaning of freedom. Freedom comes with responsibility. It’s not just about doing whatever we want; it’s about making ethical choices that consider the impact of our actions on ourselves, others, and society.

To consider freedom as a purely individual right is missing the point, and puts us into the same category as dictators and those inconsiderate people who are the bane of our existence. You know; the people who rush through when the traffic light is already red; that idiot who blocks an intersection causing a gridlock because he cannot wait for the next change of the signal; that person who insists on smoking in an elevator; that person who simply rushes to the front of the queue, assuming their needs are more important than everyone else’s; that selfish perfectly healthy younger person who will push others aside to rush for a seat and quite happily sit and play with their phone while a disabled or elderly person is left standing in the bus. We all know them. We all meet them every day.
