I don’t see your doomsday scenario coming true. If 30% of Trumpians were to “check out” of the economy, they would just starve to death. Unemployment is extremely high and those teamster jobs would just be filled by people who want to work and earn a living.
You’ve created a theory of a perfect storm but the storm isn’t perfect. So they drop out, so what? We have plenty of farmers who are paid to not farm in order to keep prices stable. We stop paying them to not farm and instead pay them to farm. Or they can just starve. People aren’t going to starve themselves to death because they’re angry about politics. A very few people, perhaps. But not nearly enough to create food shortages. And even if there were enough to do that, we live in a globalized world and food is transported from all over the world to here every day.
What is more frightening to me is that many Trumpians are armed and many make threats and sometimes carry them out. But I don’t think they could starve the country. How are they even going to feed themselves if they cause an economic collapse? Today’s farmers don’t know how to farm without tractors which require gasoline. If they were to stop selling the food they produce they could no longer buy gasoline. Without gas to keep their tractor running, their own children would starve to death. They might be crazy, but they’re not that crazy. And yes they work hard but do you think they’re seriously going to harvest without a mechanical harvester?
You have certainly brought up some things to be cautious about (and we all need to be cautious about how we proceed, for sure) but the greater danger is in allowing Trump to remain in office. Also, you said the MSM would never report that Trump has a 45% approval rate. I actually read that elsewhere previously, through some MSM outlet. Since then it has dipped down a bit (today its 38% acc’d to Quinnipiac; although I see that you wrote this on 2/16 so 45% was likely the rate on that day). You also said that Trump’s 45% approval rate was a record-breaker, but acc’d to Gallup, Obama’s ranged between 40% up to 67% so Trump really is not breaking any records here.
