Great story underlying the sad truth about society’s historical repression of female writers for far too long.

The quote I highlighted from the story addresses not only her personal turning point, but the pivotal moment many female writers have reached herstorically (no, not a typo).

By donning his hat and using her own name (presumably) she is preparing to write herself into being, from beneath the shadows of symbolically male adornment.
