Every Writer is an Addict

You would probably enjoy the work of Raymond Carver. He and Anton Chekhov have been closely compared.

Carver used to say (paraphrasing here…) that he knew he was finished with a piece when he’d removed all the punctuation during final editing and then returned it all exactly where it had been.

The kind of obsession that only an author addicted to writing would understand.
