The Lowell Sun.

Lowell, Massachusetts is a historic city in the northern part of Massachusetts. I have lived there all my life up until now, being in Salem, MA (another city of history), for college. I always thought Lowell and Boston were the only places in the world. The Lowell Sun is something I remember seeing and reading a lot as a kid when my dad read it on Sundays, and then used the old newspapers for some fire starter. For my Communications class, we were required to look up our local paper, so I looked at the Lowell Sun. So, here is some history on The Sun.

THE LOWELL SUN

  • Towns/ City paper covers: Towns surrounding Lowell, some towns in New Hampshire.
  • Website: www.lowellsun.com (Links to an external site.)
  • Circulation: 42,900 daily, and 48,000 on Sundays.
  • Company that owns the paper: MediaNews Group
  • Do they run same stories as other outlets: Yes; some national news at times.
  • Paper Print? Yes; everyday, $1.00 everyday, $2.00 on Sunday.
  • The LowellSun starting printing papers in the mid to late 1800s, and at first, the paper company had been owned by the same family since 1878, and they had owned it until 1997 until MediaNews Group bought them out.
  • The editor is Mark O’Neil their e-mail address is moneil@mediaonene.com, and he does not have Twitter handle.
