Leap Day Climbing at Basecamp
Date #808 — Monday, February 29!!!, 2016
B: We used our extra day of the year to get an extra day of climbing. I bought A a membership so we’ve been trying to come as often as possible.
I think A is so amazing and capable and I want to see her grown and progress in everything she does. She got a bit frustrated with some climbs she couldn’t do. It can be hard for me to watch her struggle. I know that the struggle is important though, so I try to be as encouraging as possible.
A: I had a friend in uni who used to climb and would ask me to go with them and I dismissed the thought almost immediately. “I don’t climb,” I said to myself. Well I never thought I’d be climbing years later. I almost enjoy it. I don’t love it, but I’m intrigued by it. I’m challenged by it. I’m not particularly good at it, either, but that’s never stopped me from doing something before.
What I really like is B’s ability to explore and commit to activities. He is so open to new adventures and climbing is one that inspires me so much to watch him. He really gives 100% to all he does, and it’s so nice to be around someone who is like this. Me, I just grunt and get frustrated and huff home on my bike, heh.
