🤣🤣🤣Our John's Brilliant Career 🤣🤣🤣

A joke in an old football annual gave me the idea for this blog about my big brother, former Stoke City and England under-23 goalkeeper John Farmer.

I came across “Offside! The When Saturday Comes Special” in a second-hand book sale and thought it was worth 10p.

On a page of jokes there was a list of “Books That Should Have Been Written By Footballers”. “Grapes of Wrath – George Best”, was one idea, and another sarcastic suggestion was “My Brilliant Career - John Farmer”.

Our John's 76 now, and nearly half a century has passed since he last dropped a cross in front of the Boothen End at the Potters' old Victoria Ground, but I thought there might just be a few old Stokies who'd enjoy looking back at his "brilliant career" (and, hopefully, having a laugh).
