It’s Not A Supplement Problem

There is no magic supplement
This past week I received an email from someone inquiring what the best supplement was to burn fat, build muscle, and tone up. I’m pretty sure if there was a supplement that did all those things to a measurable degree she would already know about it and so would the rest of us.
I have yet to find a legal supplement that produces any real results in fat loss. There are certainly some supplements that improve health and nutrient deficiencies, so I’m not condemning all supplements. Just the ones that claim they take the work out of fat loss.
There is still no free lunch.
Fat loss is never easy. There are certainly methods that are easier than others, but any method that works requires change and sacrifice. You will need to change your diet. You will probably have to give up some of your favorite foods. It’s unfortunate, but it is the truth.
My response to the inquirer focused on keeping a food log, reducing grains and carbohydrates, eating a large portion of protein at every meal, and adding some reasonable exercise several times each week.
I also encouraged her to have patience. Fat loss should be measured in months and years rather than days and weeks. It probably took many years to put the fat on. It won’t take anywhere near that long to take it off, but it will take some time and certainly more time than you want it to.
Fat loss is just like any other area of your life. To reach any satisfying goal, you will need to put in hard work for a long time. It’s never easy, but it is always worth it.
