I wrote an article last year on 100 social media statistics from 2012 and I plan on continuing to write an updated version of that article every year from here forward. In this article, I’ve included more statistics on more social networks that have risen to popularity since last year, as well an infographic visualizing some of the most interesting statistics about the growing social media ecosystem.

A lot has changed over the last year in social media like the rise of Snapchat, the acquisition of Tumblr by Yahoo, the growing importance of mobile first social networks like WeChat or Vine, the launch of LinkedIn’s widely successful Influencer program and more.

According to Social Media Examiner, 86 percent of marketers indicate that social media is important for their business, up from 83 percent in 2012. It’s obvious that social media will continue to have a major impact on the way marketers and consumers continue to communicate on a daily basis.

Here are 124 of the most fascinating social media statistics and figures from 2013 that can help you better understand the importance of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vine, LinkedIn, SlideShare, Google+, Pinterest and Snapchat.
