It simply sounds like Kyrie wants a chance to call the shots, rather than just have to play with what he’s given. Of course, he’s been given a great team for a while now, but that window might be closing and he wants out before. One thing that shocks me is how you’ve played up Irving’s offensive skills and ability without mentioning his terrible defense and on and off effort. I don’t think it will go this way, but he seems too much of a Marbury/Steve Francis/Baron Davis type that is super talented but just never figured out how to win consistently. I do hope he gets a chance to prove me wrong and thrives in a new situation, I just have my doubts. The game is increasingly becoming more about two way players and balance to have real success and Kyrie just hasn’t shown that commitment to defense.
