My parents are evangelical Christians and believe that women do not speak over a man and never speak in a worship environment. Once, a fight broke out in my church’s elder meeting, because apparently women in the congregation would whisper comments to their husbands or scoldings to their children during church services, which constituted a form of speech. Women could teach children in Sunday school, but only until sixth grade, because after that point she was teaching “men” which of course is unacceptable. Even if that woman is 55 and that man is 12.
