Marvel Universe Enters Phase 5 with Special Presentations

Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic and Marvel Comics multiverse is nearly here! Longtime MCU fan Brian Overton shares the titles he’s most looking forward to seeing in theaters and on his TV screen at home:

What are MCU Special Presentations?

With the completion of Phase 4, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to debut something totally new: the Special Presentation. An evolution of the former Marvel One-Shots, Special Presentations are projects within the Marvel Cinematic Universe which appear in the form of made-for-TV movies. With the advent of streaming services like Disney+, it is most likely that these films will debut on stream. Generally, these movies are 45+ minutes long (as opposed to the 15 minutes allotted to the former Marvel One-Shots). The short films also feature lower-level MCU characters; offering unique superheroes and anti-heroes the opportunity to shine in the spotlight of their own stories.

Here are the Top 3 Marvel Universe Special Presentations that MCU superfan Brian Overton is looking forward to in 2023:

Silver Surfer

MCU has announced that Silver Surfer will be part of the Infinity Saga roster. This is exciting for Brian Overton, whose first rare comic book was a Silver Surfer title! This Special Presentation will help bolster Silver Surfer into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, creating opportunities for the unique hero to share his origins and backstory.

Ten Rings

In 2021, Shan-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings introduced Shang-Chi to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2023, Marvel looks forward to expanding the story of Ten Rings by converting projects intended for Disney+ into these Special Presentations.

Starfox

A Starfox origin story?! Last but surely not least, Brian Overton is thrilled to share that Starfox will have his own Special Presentation! The brother of Thanos, Starfox was introduced to the MCU in Eternals. Overton can’t wait to see where the Studio takes his story!
