8 habits for greater abundance in 2016

My friend Lynn Torre is a brilliant money coach. Recently, she and I had a conversation about developing an abundance mindset. Especially as it pertains to money.

With 2016 around the corner I knew I had to share the highlights of our conversation with you.

I’ve distilled them into the eight habits for attracting more money in 2016.

1. Discover your talents and use them to serve others

An essential belief for embracing the abundance available to you in this life. Is the realization that you are here to fulfill your life’s purpose. What is your purpose? To discover your talents and use them to serve others. The outcome sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? It is the process of discovering and refining your gifts that often takes the most work.

2. Keep appreciation in circulation

I love Lynne’s concept of keeping appreciation in circulation. The same principle applies to money. In that, the exchange of money is one form of appreciation that we exchange with one another.

3. There are always ways to earn more money

I teach my children, and my clients, that we’re never truly helpless. Just because the solution isn’t clear to you does not mean the solution doesn’t exist. As for money, there’s always a way to make more. You must relentlessly seek out and learn the options available to you. I have products and services. There are so many options beyond trading dollars for hours.

4. Your degree doesn’t determine your income

When I was studying for my social work degree. Several of my professors encouraged us to prepare ourselves to not make a lot of money. I wasn’t about to buy into that belief. Your ability to create results for your clients. In a variety of monetizable ways determines your income. Ask yourself, “What other ways can I help my customers improve their lives. In what forms can I offer those improvements (e.g. Presentations, coaching, books, audio programs)? Go do it!

5. It is better to give AND receive

Gratitude is, in part, a form of monetary compensation. If we don’t receive, we cannot keep gratitude nor money in circulation. You deserve appreciation and money for the value you bring to the world.

There’s a common belief that it’s better to give THAN to receive. This can lead to a form of rejection when you say, “No thanks needed.” Why would you deny someone else the right to be grateful? Doesn’t make sense does it.

6. Pay it forward

Help because you’ve been helped. Pay the coffee order of the person behind you in line because the person in front of you did the same. Open a door for someone because someone extended you the same courtesy. It’s so simple. If you’re looking for these opportunities.

7. Passion, Integrity and Purpose

According to Lynn, “We have to live a life filled with P.I.P. (Passion, Integrity and Purpose). When you are motivated by these three characteristics. It broadens your lens to the variety of ways payment can come back to you.

A smile, a handshake, a hug, money or something else. People tend to believe those things have value less than money. When the reality is it’s all energy. People often prioritize ways to chase the money.

However, when you do it with a desire to keep energy in motion, the money will come. Giving from your heart stems from your passion, integrity and purpose. By looking for ways to keep all energy in motion, money will naturally be one of them.

8. Be grateful for every thing and every one.

“The energy that comes out of you when you are connecting with an audience is just beautiful to feel and watch and participate in,” said Lynne. “It’s the whole Brian.”

I told Lynne that my secret to being able to create that experience lies primarily in gratitude. I’m so excited to be presenting, I’m so honored that people are giving me their time and attention. I want to pay them with my very best content and effort.

Seldom does a day go by, when I don’t think about the people that didn’t survive cancer as I did. So I don’t take one second of it for granted. That’s where my energy comes from I’m so grateful to be in that moment I’m so grateful to be with that person. I’m so grateful to have this opportunity.

My final thoughts on this wonderful conversation between Lynne and I is this. Yes, I have given you eight new habits to begin practicing for the new year. So you can attract more abundance and money into your life.

Here’s a secret. What I’ve actually shared are eight different ways to practice gratitude. Happy New Year.
