Funny, I don’t recall the ADL decrying The Man in The High Castle as a glorification of Nazis. Nor have I heard Feminist groups condemning The Handmaid’s Tale as promoting misogyny and institutionalized rape culture. In that case it’s been the exact opposite. From the initial press release for Confederate it’s very obvious that they’re going to treat an alternate universe where the CSA won the Civil War and slavery lasted into present day as an unequivocally terrible thing that the protagonists will be fighting against. That isn’t to say it’s going to be free of problems; they may very well blunder into the “mighty whitey” trope where the slaves are hopeless without the help of privileged white people who become the central protagonists. However it’s really silly to automatically condemn the project before the first draft of the first episode has even printed out.
