Unfortunately, if not necessarily, the future of digital audio is DRM audio, and that will be a loss for users.

I’m not sympathetic to the superiority arguments for analog (especially moot when we’re talking about post AD/DA conversion a la your phone), but when it comes to slowing the rise of DRM, I do love my old school analog headphone jack.
