Part 2: Why Pick Up A Side Hustle?
It has been recently estimated that more than 44 million Americans run some sort of side hustle, anything from driving for ride share companies, making delicious baked goods, to producing handcrafted jewelry. Thankfully with technology and the low barrier to entry, it has never been easier to start a side hustle.
To work for Uber, in most places, all you need is a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and a phone. The flexibility of side hustles also allows people to work when they want and how much they want. No commitment is necessary. If your hours get cut back from your 9-to-5 job, then you can work your side hustle more. If you have some family obligations, you can work less.
But for all the allure of a side hustle, they are not without their complications. If you work within a system, you have to follow the system’s rules. For example, if you’re a delivery driver, you are stuck with whatever rate the company gives you; the only way to make extra money is by working longer hours — not ideal. If you work within a specific marketplace like Fiverr, Freelancer.com or Upwork, it is incredibly hard to stand out and distinguish yourself from other freelancers doing exactly what you’re doing. Often the only way to get work is by lowering your prices and then it becomes a race to the bottom. Also, not ideal.
So how do you overcome these challenges? To be successful in business, you need to do something different. I’m going to show you a business opportunity that is unique, that not a lot of other people know about.
