Son, the fact that you regularly use bitch or dick doesn’t shock me. The moment you used the phrases “alpha male” and “beta male”, I already realized your social skills were stuck in adolescence.

Nor does it surprise me that men call women bitches in private and public without fear of consequences. It doesn’t even surprise me that most men don’t say anything or even notice. I even seen women laugh at the terms as well. Heck, I’ve bit my tongue in meetings with clients or VCs at some of the things that get said.

But that’s because most of us are social cowards.

“So how do I know that? 30+ years in business, never once seen anything even remotely what the OP described, but I bet I have been in thousands of conversations in that timeframe where some woman was referred to as a “bitch”.”

Well, if the term bitch is coming up in “thousands of conversations,” then it’s either because you use the terms interchangeably or because you’re threatened by women and you’re stuck being 13. Or you work in the music business.

Because I’ve been working in predominately male environments since I was 15, sometimes as the only woman and no, that was not used in every other conversation. Nor did we call men dicks. (Who even uses that term once they’re older than 12?) Asshole was used a great deal but asshole has the benefit of being a nonspecific slur. But where it was not used was networking events — because you never know who knows someone.

So, let’s get back to you. You think you’re an alpha but you don’t stand up for members of your team or your friends or even your clients if they’re women. You think you’re an alpha so you think anyone who doesn’t snigger along with the bigger boys must be a beta. You think you’re an alpha because you can use “dirty words” without fear.

You need to find a real adult male to mentor you, son.

Why don’t you read up on Andy Murray?

If you do not stand up for your friends and coworkers — whether they’re women, African Americans, Jews or just little nebbishy guys, to me? You’re worthless. Because you’re either a Mad Man wannabe or a coward.

Take your pick.
