This is devastatingly true. High schools and colleges are swamped with demanding, stringent graduation requirements that make you take a bunch of classes you don’t want and are really useless. People no longer take foreign languages for the value of learning about a different culture and language, but just to get the credits. It sucks all the value out of learning, and students don’t see anything meaningful in it, which is why they grow to hate school.
