This is exactly what’s wrong with society. We divide this world into factions according to race, sexuality, gender, political beliefs, income, job opportunities, achievements, how much property we own, social status, everything.

I wish we’d stop seeing each other as others, as different. We are maligning our own sisters and brothers and we don’t give a fraction of a shit. We completely ignore the fire in the kitchen in which the unfortunates perish simply because some of us were able to make it to the attic. We steal and kill outright and openly in broad daylight for everyone to see, and we couldn’t care less about the consequences.

(By we, I simply mean us as the human existence, for we have failed to sustain humanity and morale. Obviously not everyone does these things; only those in the top 1% who own the world do, but we have enabled it)

This is a pretty accurate image of what society has become.

Our capitalist economy encourages this very thing. It’s about “competition”, which is really just a euphemism for making sure we stay stagnant, that the poor stay poor, and that we stay dependent on the powerful.

But what you point out so well is that we are all human beings, with lives that have value. Don’t we all laugh and cry, breathe and bleed, and live to our inevitable deaths? That is all we are, creatures that were insanely lucky to exist in this world, which we are all fighting to reduce into a bed of roses.
