This is very true. I tell a lot of my friends about my journey on Medium, and they always respond with admiration… and nothing else. They don’t want to try and do something like I did, because they’re busy with something else, they don’t know how to organize their thoughts, etc. Excuses, excuses.

Then, when I go to great lengths to convince them, they retreat into their comfort zone, saying that they aren’t me and that I need to stop “forcing” them into something they don’t want to do.

They say that they hate writing. That it’s easy. That it’s a waste of time and is “just a hobby, not a career”. I know that in the back of their minds, they love writing and desperately want a chance at the creative realm, but they will do everything humanly possible to keep that from happening.

Art is such an undervalued thing in society.
