Love the journey this took me on.
Annoyingly, I keep going back to the title and quote (that was not quoted).
I can’t help it.
Bob M. paraphrased M. Garvey who perhaps drew from someone else too, but the message was consistent — African Redemption.
It’s even more to me, diasporic Africans, Caribbeans and other POC, people in bondage, incarcerated, newly released from bondage/incarceration, as well as millions of Bob fans, like you. See me?
So while “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” using the title and a quote from Bob’s song, without saluting him somehow, or even showing it as a quote, just feels off to me.
Felt what you wrote though.
