An alternative for smokers, but also a trend.

“JUUL was developed with the smoker in mind. In 2007, James Monsees and Adam Bowen — both graduate students in the Stanford design program — co-founded JUUL because they’d been smokers for many years and were increasingly dissatisfied with the health and social impacts of cigarettes. Wanting to create a true alternative to combustible tobacco products, James and Adam knew that smokers who want to switch are looking for something that does not look or feel like a cigarette. The result was JUUL.”

JUUL is a vaporizer or an e-cigarette that delivers high levels of nicotine and flavored vaporizer liquids. The device costs $34.99 that includes as USB charger, and the pods that contain the liquid cost $15.99 per four pack. JUUL contains 5.0% nicotine stregth and offers flavors such as Mango, Fruit Medley, Tobacco, Virginia Tobacco, Cool Mint, Cool Cumber & Crème Brûlée.

Recommendation

This product is a new alternative to the typical e-cigarette or vaporizer. It contains high levels of nicotine that can be very beneficial to those trying to avoid the other harmful chemicals contained in cigarettes. Although, the fruitful flavors have become very appealing to younger users who are simply intrigued by the idea of “vaping” instead of avoiding cigarettes.

This product is suitable for adults looking for an alternative to both cigarettes and e-cigarettes. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance that is delivered in high levels with JUUL, so it should not be used for someone who is not already addicted to nicotine.

I think that JUUL has made some improvements by adding warnings to the packages about the use of nicotine and the purpose of JUUL being for smokers, but I think they should look harder into making this product less appealing to younger teens who are not currently nicotine users. They could offer some flavors that do not contain nicotine at all, or nicotine in smaller percentages, which would allow teens to use the device without the nicotine content.
