Time-Lapse Story of San Francisco Walgreens Store Buildout
Walgreens' exciting new store refresh has led to a number of new “Flagship stores” in heavily trafficked major cities. It was decided that its Powell Street Store, on the cable car line in San Francisco, would experience such status. This called for a major remodel of a store that had been open since 1946. The store would go from one floor to two and experience a total tear-down & rebuild.
We were asked to document this process via our “Timelapse Story” technique, which involves time-lapse photography but also attempts to tell a complete story of the physical build-out, as well as the impact on the neighborhood, and the lives of those who work in the store and on it. Original music was produced, and the entire process was documented with Canon DSLRs and GoPros. The final project traces the path of the store from its last day before temporarily closing, to the opening day of the incredible new facility.
