If you ever interview for a position that isn’t specifically a PHP job you are better off not mentioning it and focusing on all of the peripheral experience that you have because of it. If you are interviewing for almost any position other than a Rails job, all of those peripheral skills are going to make you stand out against the X years of language crowd fast. Just don’t provide the excuse for them to focus on the stereotype and instead emphasize the rest of what it gave you.
