I Am pretty sure that you have already heard about Amazon and selling on Amazon FBA. We recommended it on our other post about ways how to make money online. Have you heard that you can earn some serious money with this business?
But let me tell you- it’s not passive income and it’s not easy. There are so many quite bad things that can happen with this kind of business model. But if you are not a quitter and you have a serious motivation to work towards your goals and towards your own brand- Amazon FBA could be the amazing opportunity that you have been searching for.

We have now been working on our Amazon FBA business for a year. And this has been one of the best decisions that we could have made. We have gained so much experience, knowledge and through that, we have had some very good opportunities with our business.

But as I said, it’s not easy and boy did we thought that it will be easier than that. The one thing that we can recommend to you is to take Amazon FBA selling course before you start anything. There are so many details that you couldn’t possibly search for in google. It’s so much easier to follow a course and move towards your goal with some help. We stumbled on to a very good course that we definitely would recommend. It helps you from the very beginning and guides you through every little detail and if something is not clear, you can always ask! Such a helpful course. I am sure that we would have been lost on Week 1!

Check out the course that helped us to build our own Amazon FBA brand here!

As time went on, we got more excited and started to see development and some actual money that we made. This was a surreal feeling. A feeling that we actually did something right and made money! Because the thing is that you probably have to work and work and work some more for about 3–6 months before you can see any money in your account. But it’s totally worth it!
So I really encourage you to take the step and start with your own Amazon FBA business.

First of all, Is selling on amazon Fba Worth it?

In our experience, I would definitely say yes but the thing is that you can’t really make this decision based on others. Just think about yourself and is this kind of business model for you.

Selling on Amazon FBA IS FOR YOU if:

You are a hard worker– This is not something that will bring passive income. It requires a lot of work!
You want scalable business– Amazon fba can definitely grow into a big business.
You are looking for a side hustle– It’s perfect for it!
You are not a quitter– There’s going to be so many failures, problems and obstacles but you just have to keep your head up and work harder!

Selling on Amazon FBA IS NOT FOR YOU if:

You want to get rich quick– it’s not a business that will get you rich fast, you need to put in the work and time.
You want a passive income– As I said before, this is not a passive business. Work, work and one more time- work, especially in the beginning.
You are not willing to play by the rules– Amazon has so many rules for amazon fba sellers that it’s hard to even count them. Play by the rules, otherwise, Amazon will not let you play at all.
You don’t want to build a brand– Yes, this one may be questionable but we do believe that nowadays, to sell in amazon fba, you have to build a brand. Otherwise, you will be hidden behind the big brand sellers and no one will notice your products. If you decide to do it- do it right!

So yes, selling on Amazon is not for everyone and therefore not worth it for some people. But if you feel like this is a business model that would work for you and you have the power to work for it- Do it!
If we talk in numbers, selling on Amazon will be worth it if you choose the right products. More on that later!

Amazon FBA vs Amazon FBM

Let’s start from the very beginning and clear things out. There are two different ways that you can sell on Amazon. One is Amazon fba and the other is Amason fba.

Amazon FBA (Fulfilment By Amazon)
“You sell it, we ship it. Amazon has one of the most advanced fulfilment networks in the world. With Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), you store your products in Amazon’s fulfilment centres, and we pick, pack, ship, and provide customer service for these products. FBA can help you scale your business and reach more customers.” (Amazon.com)

This means that you have to choose your product, find a manufacturer, order your products from the manufacturer, the manufacturer will send these products directly to Amazon fba fulfilment centre, you can start selling and Amazon will send the product to your customer.

The good thing is that you don’t have to pick and pack the products and deal with the sending process. Amazon fba will do it for you.

Amazon FBM (Fulfilment By Merchant)
“Fulfillment By Merchant (FBM) is when the seller is in control of his entire handling and shipping process. Instead of paying a fee and shipping inventory to Amazon to handle, the seller uses his or her own resources and sends the items directly to the buyer. By choosing FBM, a seller takes complete control of the entire process, from purchasing to shipping and receiving.” (feedvisor.com)

This means that you control the whole process and you have A LOT more work to do. You only have a listings about your products on Amazon and when products are ordered by customers, you have to have a warehouse where you keep your inventory and you have to send them out too. You also have to deal with returns.

Because we have only had experience with Amazon fba, we can’t take sides here. But we chose amazon fba because it’s easier and as we live in Estonia there are no other ways for us to sell on Amazon.
Amazon fba is more automated for the seller and I would recommend that but everyone has to choose by themselves.

Now the big question, what products to sell on Amazon FBA?

The main thing to do is to find out products and categories that are selling well but have not yet too many sellers. And for that, you can use different programs.
We use regularly very good program called jungle scout. It will give you data about other sellers on this category and also will give you an opportunity score.

Usually, it’s recommended not to sell products that are:

  1. easily breakable- you want your customers to receive a good and useable product.
  2. Very heavy weight- because of the high fees.
  3. products with too many competitions
  4. Very complex products- the easier to understand the product, the better

Keep in mind that these are just recommendations and if every seller is following them, you may just sell something on the list because no one is selling this product. For example something heavy. Maybe you find some heavy product that will have a very good margin.

Product reachers are the single most important thing in Amazon FBA business! And the process is complicated and not that easy. That’s why I recommend a amazon FBA course for you.

This is just a small introduction to Amazon FBA. It’s such an interesting world and we will definitely write about it more in the future. Let us know what are some of the questions you have when it comes to Amazon FBA and we are more than happy to answer them.
