Welcome to the Great Brisbane Outdoors! 🌿🌞

Hey there! Ready to explore some of Brisbane’s most splendid green spaces? Growing up in Brisbane, the city’s lush parks are filled with memories of great times with family and friends. Now I get to share my favourite spots with you. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Brisbane’s parks are like open invitations to unwind and reconnect with our laid back subtropical environment. So, lace up your walking shoes, pack a picnic, and let’s get cracking!

1. The Iconic South Bank Parklands 🎡🌺

Where the City Meets the River

Stretched out along the Brisbane River, the South Bank Parklands aren’t just a park; they’re kind of like a stunning Brisbane-themed amusement park showing off the best of Brisbane’s laid-back lifestyle and rich culture. Here, the city’s pulse meets tranquil gardens, renowned museums and galleries, acclaimed restaurants and fun outdoor activities. Think of it as a salad bowl of activities — from the stunning Arbour walkway, adorned with blooming bougainvillea, to the Streets Beach, Australia’s only inner-city, man-made beach. South Bank Parklands is easy to find — just look for The Wheel of Brisbane, the landmark 60-metre-high Ferris wheel.

One of the best ways to explore South Bank Parklands is to take the self-guided walk by my friends at Walk Our World. It is completely free and has a map that you can open up on your phone to guide you step-by-step through South Bank’s main attractions, including the Rainforest Walk and Nepalese Peace Pagoda.

Getting to and from South Bank is easy, with buses, two train stations and CityCats all dropping visitors to Brisbane’s number one destination. And if you want to visit the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary the cruise boat takes off from South Bank. What could be easier?

👉 Fun Fact: Did you know that Streets Beach is completely free? That’s right, free sunshine, free sand, free smiles!

2. The Serene New Farm Park 🌳🌸

A Riverside Reverie
Imagine sprawling lawns with the gentle Brisbane River as a backdrop — that’s New Farm Park for you. Famous for its giant fig trees and floral displays, it’s a haven for picnickers and nature lovers. The Powerhouse nearby often has buzzing markets and live shows.

3. The Lush Roma Street Parkland 🚂🌼

A Botanical Wonderland
Roma Street Parkland is a horticultural dream! This place is a patchwork quilt of themed gardens and recreational areas. The Spectacle Garden is particularly mesmerising with its vibrant floral displays. Plus, there’s a cute little train that chugs around the park — perfect for kids and kids-at-heart!
