The newbie on the block.
So one thing that has changed — I’m now living in Bristol. One thing that hasn’t changed — my love for food. I’ve been here a matter of days, and it is clear the love for food and drink is prominent across the city. I think it’s safe to say I’ve chosen my new home well.
I haven’t yet totaled the number of establishments which are worthy of a visit, but all I know is, I won’t run short of options anytime soon (or go hungry for that matter). So my first port of call was Zerodegrees. If you’re looking for locally crafted beer straight from their microbrewery and a fresh wood fired pizza packed full of toppings, this most definitely is your kinda place.
A quirky modern building situated on Park Row is the ideal location for an after work drink with friends or grabbing a bite to eat. The restaurant is decorated with modern features, the most striking being the large colourful hung lighting, making full use of the mezzanine floor. The open kitchen is a more common occurrence nowadays, but nonetheless the views of the pizza preparation and wood fired oven is always mesmarising to watch. And of course, as a microbrewery, Zerodegrees house spectacular large kettles in their polished copper glory behind the bar, adding to the modern and clean design throughout.
There is an enormous choice of food on the menu, predominantly pizzas but also a wide range of pastas, salads and risottos too. After long deliberation I opted for a roasted vegetable pizza (with extra goats cheese) topped with their premium chili oil. Although I was tempted by their spiced lamb pizza also (not going to lie, they all sounded fabulous)!! And it was all washed down with their mango ale brewed by Zerodegrees themselves — a sweeter pale ale recommended by our waiter.
The staff were absolutely lovely, I struggle to remember a time I’ve had better service than at Zerodegrees. And where they seated us by the window overlooking Colston Street, we were able to enjoy the warm summer evening too (one of the very few we get in Britain!).
Offering 2 for 1 Sunday to Thursday with a Tastecard, 2 for 1 lunch Monday to Friday 12–3 and 2 for 1 cocktails on Thursday evenings, Zerodegrees is a no brainer for me! Fabulous food, fabulous service, fabulous location — a must try if you’re a newbie to Bristol like myself!
