Passion is essential to life.

Everywhere you look, whether it be a school classroom, or a football field, or even a concert hall; you can feel passion rushing through the fingertips of everyone in that room.

The problem with passion is that it needs to set free for it to achieve it’s full potential. For the less academic, unfortunately like myself, passion may not be found within a school building but my passion is found when I’m reading a marvellous book or listening to a great song. My passion gets fuelled by creativity and the more creative it is, the better it is.

Don’t let anything get in the way of your passion. I have had too many school teachers telling me I’m not doing well enough in science because I haven’t got a scientific mind, but not once had my creative mind been praised. They let us write, but it’s never freely. It’s always a book report for yet another mediocre standard example of how beautiful and great Language can be if it’s utilised in the correct way; it’s never ‘write freely about what you want’ as they have to stick to a syllabus that was made by adults that have almost seemed to forget what it’s like to be a teenager and have your imagination still intact and still being set on fire by the smallest thing.

School, or just being stuck in the same building five days a week, can sometimes kill your passion.

If you are ever lucky enough to attend a concert, I suggest you take at least one song (preferably not one of your favourites) and just take some time to look around you. Look at the how much passion and love they sing every word back to the artist with.

Look at how your friend’s or partner’s or anyone’s eyes and face lights up when they talk in depth about something they love or feel passionate about. That’s amazing. That’s passion.

A teacher who loves everything they teach about on a daily basis and can never tire even with the pressure of the demanding job. That’s passion.

A student who listen to every word said or written about math or science or history but yet is always thirsty for more knowledge that’s passion.

Anyone who finishes a long and tiring day at work and knows that they will barely sleep that night but doesn’t mind that because they get to go and do what they love all over again the next day. That’s passion.

Listen to a singer and observe every ounce of passion and hard work that drips out of their mouth and falls into the microphone. Look at them when they sing, really look. Pay attention to how their face changes as they get more and more into the song, notice how their eyes close when they sing or how they cling onto their microphone. That’s passion.

Read what someone write, look at how they go into the smallest details on things that may seem pointless to you but are everything to them. Look particularly closely at how they phrase things. Maybe they slaved over one particular sentence to make sure it was perfect.

Look at your loved ones. Be aware of how much they love you and care for you. If you find someone that loves you, never let them go. You can’t always keep people around physically forever but they can stay in your heart for an eternity. Love is filled with passion.

Look at yourself, what do you love about? What do you dislike about you? Where do you find comfort? What’s so important to you that you would give your life up for it? When you find it look at yourself and say ‘that’s passion.’

Find time and let your passion and your dreams run wild and live.
