ROYAL BEAR FORCE
During 2013, we employed wounded ex-military personnel at the Poppy Factory to dress our Royal Bear force teddy bears. We employed the Poppy Factory to dress our Armed Forces range of bears so that we we could help get wounded, sick and injured ex-armed forces men and women back to work. Having valiantly served their country, we thought they deserved it.
ST GEORGE — THE KNIGHT
St. George is the patron saint of England. His emblem, a red cross on a white background, is the flag of England, and part of the British Union Jack flag. St. George’s emblem was adopted by Richard The Lion Heart and brought to England in the 12th century. St. George’s Day is celebrated on the 23rd April. One of the best-known stories about Saint George is his fight with a dragon. This Great British Knight is a lover not a fighter and prefers a good cuddle! George wears silver coloured wool “chain mail” beneath a white cotton tunic embroidered with the St George Cross. His leatherette belt even has a working brass buckle. We would love to see pictures of you with your bears, please upload them at share our bear
THE TRAFFIC BOBBY
The British Traffic Bobby is wearing his regulation high visibility Police jacket decorated with fluorescent stripes and embroidered epaulets displaying his rank. His shirt and tie are removable and can be washed by hand in warm water. Even his miniature hat has been carefully replicated to both look and feel just like the real thing. Each Great British Traffic Bobby arrives ready to make an arrest carrying his own warrant card and badge. Winston Growler is the senior officer in our Police Teddy Bear range he makes sure that Emily Good Heart and Edward Walker are on the beat every day fighting crime and helping the neighborhood. Our Great British Police Teddy Bears all wear the number 999 on each epaulette to help ensure that children learn the emergency services number as soon as they can.
JOCKEY RED & GREEN
The practice of horsemen wearing colors probably stems from medieval times when jousts were held between knights. Our Jockeys are lovers not fighters. Jockeys have a reputation for being very short, but actually there is no height limit, only a weight limit. Our Jockey Bear only weighs just 70gms! and is ready to be first past the finishing post. Dressed in a choice of three silks the Great British Jockey wears a hard helmet and tinted racing goggles. Why not read more about the jockey teddy bear here
