Children awake early in the morning
The eagerness and zeal fill the chilled air
Tip toeing downstairs they hold their breath in anticipation

Parents awake to the sounds of whispers and giggling
Knowing their kids are looking for traces of Santa
Smiling as they blink away the night before

Grandparents awake to the pain of their years
Filled with love and gratitude for another day
Slowly climbing out of bed amidst the aches and pains

Christmas cheer fills the house
Reminding everyone of what’s important
A moment to remember and hold each other close
