Performance Consulting 702010

702010 is a principle, it’s like gravity in that it’s just a fact that people learn through doing and engaging with others. It’s undeniable… see, just like gravity. So it’s not something you start doing or creating, it’s something you start releasing or enabling. And it starts on the peripheral of learning. You need to look closer at the attitudes and actions and the systems that contain both. When asked recently about this notion I shared that you need to performance consult and it starts with examination and observation.

What are the BELIEFS in the org about how, where and when learning happens?

Next, the BEHAVIORS. Do they match the beliefs? What are people really doing to get better at what they do, where do they and don’t they turn? The gap between belief and reality is often greater than most know.

And finally, the SYSTEMS. How are systems like recognition/rewards, management, decision-making, and communications supporting or hindering information exchange? Tweaking these systems could unleash an amazing impact on org-wide learning.

Good luck!
