I don’t know what the bills are like in America, but in even in Canada, home of publicly-funded healthcare, we get billed for ambulance rides. And while my husband’s Epipen doesn’t even run close to $600 (yikes!!!!), it’s definitely not free. So when he had to jab himself one night, and then call an ambulance to bring him to the hospital, the whole experience cost him about $150. Not horrible, I know. But I know there are people would struggle to pay that.

I found myself agreeing with the point about Epipens compared to EMS, but then I saw your reply and remembered. I can’t imagine trying to decide between death and debt.
