How to create an address to receive your new token

If you were just about to mint your token, but got stuck when asked for a 40 character hexadecimal ‘address’ … then this quick guide is for you.

When we create your token, we need an address so that we can transfer to you the balance. The easiest way to generate an address is to create an Ethereum compliant digital wallet.

What’s a wallet?

A digital wallet allows you to view, transfer, or spend cryptocurrencies — and this is where you can receive and access your new tokens.

Setting up a wallet allows you to create the public and private cryptographic keys needed to securely confirm your new tokens have been received. The address we are asking for is actually your public key.

Which wallet to use?

There are many wallets to choose from (and please do explore if you have the time), but the two listed below should get your up-and-running and ready to access your tokens:

1. Meta-Mask is (free) a browser plugin that enables you to control your Ethereum wallet from your web browser. It also acts as a web hook connecting any Ethereum based Dapp to your Ethereum account.

2. My Ether Wallet is a (free) popular web-based Ethereum wallet, that permits the storing and sending of Ether and some other useful features for interrogating the Ethereum blockchain.

Viewing your tokens

Another way to check on your newly created token is Etherscan. This tool allows your to view wallets, transactions, smart contracts and generally integrate the live Ethereum blockchain.
