Adiós Seattle
For those of you that don’t know yet, I’m leaving Seattle for another adventure, and I don’t just mean another vacation. So thank you PNW for the gracious hosting this past decade.

For some context, a few months ago, I woke up early with a head full of ideas. It wasn’t a typical ‘Eureka’ moment. I wasn’t looking to solve a problem, discover something, or reveal a truth about life. I just had an unnatural surge of energy and the outline of a trip through Central and South America.
It’s a trip I’ve thought about but never actually took any steps toward planing. To be honest, I’m a little scared writing this at the moment since voicing dreams and plans has always been something I avoid.
I don’t have an objective, save having a good time and improving my nominal Spanish skills, but that’s ok, I don’t think I need one. Many people are only concerned with what your next step is and what “moves you’re making” or “what’s your newest hustle”. I find this to be stifling, especially when they just want to use you as a benchmark. So I’m taking what may be considered an odd step off the path, but insert some cliche phrase about the road less traveled….blah, blah, blah.
Let’s get this clear, I’m not writing for you. I’m writing for me. I’m not going to make up lists of where to go and what to see. I’m not going to post a bunch of super edited and staged photos. Lastly, I’m not going to try to explain the cultures of where I go — there’s no way I could begin to do that.
I am writing in order to make sense of my own thoughts and experiences. I’m writing to capture a moment or moments in time for memory down the road. Hopefully, improving my writing will be a natural consequence of actually writing.
For all I know, no one will ever this or any other post, so this shouldn’t be an issue.
If you find me and/or choose to join me on my journey, welcome. I can’t promise to inspire or even entertain you. But if you get anything out of my writing, then I’m glad I could help. If nothing else, as long as I keep posting, you’ll know I’m still alive (hi mom).
At the end of September I’ll be driving down the coast to my home town of Newport Beach. Along the way, I’ll be stopping for nature highlights and visiting friends. My first international stop will be Mexico City towards the end of October.
Hasta luego,
Brandon
