Recently there was a church shooting. I did a search for it and here is what the search results looked like.

You can stop trying to figure out which church mass shooting. It isn’t on that list. That should tell you how sad the current state of our country is right now.

West Freeway Church of Christ shooting

I have been waiting to comment until after I did some research. I wanted to make a statement about this event because I have taken a stand about adjusting the 2nd Amendment to match the current state of the USA and gun control. They adjusted the laws in Australia and it works.

I have published on different Social Media platforms about how much I am upset about the lack of gun control in America. There is no reason to have this many mass shootings and this many innocent people (children) being killed.

Here are my thoughts: the bad guy came to this church to do 1 thing…. kill as many people as possible. By the time he is shot, he has already killed 2 and maybe 3 people. If the good guy with a gun does not stop him, he may end up killing a lot more people. From the video (GRAPHIC) you can see that there are older people sitting in church and they are in shock when the shooting starts. If this was in a church — like in my home state of Iowa — where people don’t always have a gun with them, the death toll would have been far worse. So in this situation, I agree that it is good that there was a good guy with a gun. I won’t always say that. These are my opinions.

Me saying that might shock some people. They assume that I am “anti-gun” because I post anti-mass-shooting messages on Social Media. I’m tired of people getting killed. I think all of America can agree on that.

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

OK now that that is out of the way, does this mean that I am pro-2nd-Amendment? Yes and No. I am 100% in favor of the constitution. I am a Veteran and served in the US Army. I know about M16A2 rifles and 5.56 MM ball ammunition. So I have a little bit of experience and not just talking out of my ass.

I don’t think people have to pick 1 side or the other. There is a lot to sort out with the gun control debate. I don’t care if people own guns. I just don’t see why they need magazines that fire 30 rounds. I don’t see why there are “loopholes” for buying and selling assault rifles. If you are a law abiding citizen, you shouldn’t need anything to worry about. I truly believe that.

I might come back and edit this later when I have more thoughts on this. For now I will just say that there are steps that can be taken so less innocent people need to die. This is a crisis and sticking your head in the sand isn’t going to help fix the problem.

If you don’t think there is a problem, then you are not the person I am trying to talk to. I’m looking to have conversation with level headed people that want to make the world a better place. Not someone who wants to stand by and watch each other kill each other.

An unrelated video about gun control here which is a stand up comedian, but he makes some very good points.
