A Tribute to Our Friend…

Reflection from TCG Founder, Vince Casale

I spend most days coming up with words for other people, yet for the last few days finding my own has been a true challenge.

I met Bryon at a RACC event many years ago. A big guy with an even bigger personality in a seersucker jacket and bow tie introduced himself as “Bryon McKim of the Saratoga McKims.” My initial reaction was, “who the hell is this guy.”

Who knew then that our relationship would grow into more than a friendship. He became an integral part of TCG and our lives. Every petition operation, ballot challenge, and convention; not to mention holidays, birthdays, trips to the track, and he even got this Jet fan to attend an occasional Albany Bills Backers event.

Our phone conversations would often start with Bryon answering the phone, “Who’d ya kill?” followed by my standard response of, “No one, yet…” And the numerous discussions of my crazy ideas, like the time I told him that I wanted to register people in the cemetery near my house to prove that NY’s new online voter registration system was flawed. My idea, like many, many others was met with the typical and emphatic Mckim answer, “Uhhhhh No.”

Bryon, you were my go to guy for all things legal (and stopping the illegal), you were my ticket fixer, my friend, my brother, and my trusted consigliere (especially when I was more Sonny than Michael)…

While I thought our journey together would be longer, we had one hell of a run. The election cycles will never be the same, our petition challenges will always have a void, there will forever be an additional scratch at Saratoga and our parties and holidays will have an empty chair.

Until we meet again at a Board Of Elections near you, your legacy will live on in all the lives you’ve touched.

I will miss you my friend…
