Instagram Fever

Who knew you could communicate through photos?

This is a little rant about my personal opinion on Instagram and how it has paved way for a new type of digital communication…. Communication through photos and videos.

Instagram’s initial launch was October 6th, 2010 and it’s main purpose was to share videos and photos with just your friends or privately, but oh has Instagram grown since then.

The modern day Instagram app is just unreal. Their software allows you to literally do any type of editing to your videos or photos whether you want to add a filter or if you want to adjust the structure, and contrast of your photo.

Rather than communicating to your friends and family, Instagram allows you to express who you are as an individual through your photos and videos. How easy is that! No longer do you have to tell you grandmother on social media what you have been up to but rather skip the conversation and just share photos and videos with her!

According to an article from the New York Times, Facebook Buys Instagram for 1 Billion Dollars, claims that the service was acquired by Facebook in April 2012 for approximately US$1 billion in cash and stock. In 2013, Instagram grew by 23%, while Facebook, as the parent company, only grew by 3%. After the purchase of Instagram, Facebook adds some unique features to expand and develop Instagram.

Some of these features including, a direct message opinion which allows you to have in-app personal relationships with anyone of your choosing. For one specific groups such as organization and companies, makes it easier for audience engagement and one-on-one communication between company and customer.

When it comes to a final conclusion about Instagram just know that it is at the top of my list for favorite interactive app to use because it’s reliable, effective and makes personal look more professional.
