I should count the amount of time that I spend in meetings at work. The feeling is that 25% or more is spent getting ready for meetings, going to meetings and then taking action afterwards. And that’s the lucky route — since sometimes all of that time is just wasted as no decisions were made. So, rescheduling a meeting it is then..

One of the ways I started fighting the meeting-fatigue is by going only to the meetings which have an agenda attached to it, so I could get ready and that I know everyone who is able and should be able to make a decision come on board. There is no need to sit in a meeting and just ‘be’ there — no one will appreciate it.

Another highly effective way is to just call out the bullshit during the meeting when people try to extend it, or delve into a discussion which can’t yield anything substantial.

Also limiting the meetings to no more than 30 minutes helps — you know some of them will take longer, but it’s easier to cut them short this way too.
