Busy to Balanced

You know how a plane takes off from the runway? It starts from 0, and then slowly gains speed until it has enough momentum to lift off the ground?

Yeah, well my year has not started like that AT ALL. It’s been more like a rocket launching into space with a massive explosion catapulting it through the atmosphere.

I used to have this routine down, but it’s definitely taking some patience to get back into a rhythm.

The burnout is real and I find myself thinking:

  • “Should I just cancel this personal trip I’ve been looking forward to?”
  • “Do I have to do that work out/run today? I’ve already worked so hard…”
  • “Maybe I should cancel my Wild Leadership program this summer? I don’t “have time”
  • “I think a 5 minute meditation is long enough vs my typical 15–20 … right?”

Here is why I am NOT giving up any of these things …

Personal vacations, meditation, movement in the outdoors — THIS is what feeds my soul. Without this, there’s no way I can get through long workdays. These are the things that keep me centered, holding me back from the edge when I’m feeling overwhelmed. These things I do for MYSELF, are how I stay balanced.

I am sure you are asking yourself how do I find balance as the world gets back to normal? It starts inside. With small choices, with a sympathetic inner dialogue — inch by inch we get closer to ourselves.

BALANCE is really as reminding yourself that “make healthy breakfast” is just as big of a priority as “meeting with my VP about proposal.” …. actually, it’s MORE important ;)

Keep doing the things that you LOVE, don’t let the good stuff fall off the priority list.
