I read the book Siddhartha not too long ago. So it was interesting to get someone else’s view on part of the book.

I really liked this quote from the author of this piece,

“We all have some influence on what this reality has to offer, but ultimately, many things are out of our control. The only solution, then, is to adjust our expectations by managing our personal desires”

I think this quote is so true! We can’t control everything around us! But we can control and change our attitude/desires. If somethings doesn’t go our way, we can look for the positive. It also has a lot to do with a minimalist attitude. If we don’t expect a lot then we won’t be disappointed. And that isn’t to say that we can’t have expectations and desires, we just need to be reasonable with how we view our lives and ourselves.

This piece also made me think about my journey through life. Often in life, we get so busy that we forget to enjoy it. We are constantly focusing on seeking and finding what we want, that we don’t see what is right in front of us. There are so many little things in our lives to be enjoyed if we just open our eyes. Siddhartha spends his whole time seeking enlightenment, but it isn’t till he stops seeking that he finds it. He finds that what he has is great. We need to stop worrying about the future and what is ahead and enjoy what we have right in front of us.
