How to Find Your UDID
Written by Devin Drumheller, Director of Client Service

When we’re developing an iOS app — for iPhone or iPad, since we haven’t started developing for Apple Watch yet — we want our client to be able to review it as it comes together. To give them access, we usually ask for their UDID, which could easily prompt a few questions:
- “What the hell is a UD… what?”
- “Why do you want this information?”
- “How do I find it?”
Your UDID is your Unique Device IDentifier. It’s used to determine which devices can test early builds of an in-progress app. And finding it is actually pretty easy.
You’ll Need Three Things:
1. An iPhone or iPad
2. Its charging cable
3. A computer with iTunes
Now Follow These Steps:
1. Plug your device into your computer, and open iTunes. You should see something like this (though your computer might actually have music on it, unlike mine…)

2. Click on the icon for your device in the upper left (not your device name in the left-hand menu). The icon will change depending on whether you’re using an iPhone or iPad.

3. You should now see the Summary for your device. Left-click on your device’s Serial Number.

4. After you click it, the Serial Number will be replaced with your device’s UDID. Just right-click on it and select copy. When you’re on this page, your keyboard shortcuts will also copy the UDID: Command ⌘ + C on Mac or Ctrl + C on Windows.

5. Send your now-copied UDID to us, and we’ll take care of the rest so you’ll be able to review the next build of your new app!
